MURRAY DOWNS
CONGRATULATIONS to our Division 1 and 3 teams who were victorious in their grand finals last Saturday.
Division 1 enjoyed a very satisfying win over Moulamein, who we hadn’t beaten during the season or in the second semi-final. It was a tremendous achievement by all players to reverse those results.
The final score was Murray Downs 80 and 10 points to Moulamein 75, with 2 points.
With two rinks having already finished and, as the last end was being played, on the final rink, the margin was seven points Murray Downs’ way.
Moulamein required eight shots to win overall and would go on to win the last end by two shots, with the difference being five shots to Murray Downs in what was a very exciting finish.
In the Division 3 grand final, Murray Downs played Tooleybuc, who had beaten them by two shots in November and three shots in February, but Murray Downs were successful in the second semi-final by 13 shots.
A hard-fought match was played, with Murray Downs winning by eight shots overall 82 to 74.
Overall, it was another very successful season for the Murray Downs Bowls Club, with congratulations going to all players and selectors on a job well done.
As the season comes to a close, Murray Downs will hold its last tournament on Thursday, March 13.
This is a mixed medley fours tournament, with a starting time of 10am.

Social bowls last week was won by Doug Fisher and Elaine Lawry, while members rostered for Thursday, March 20 are Greg Robertson and Harry Whitford.

SWAN HILL
WHAT a spectacular Day it was at the Swan Hill Bowls Club last Saturday, with the four divisions of Saturday Pennant vying to win their grand finals.
Eight teams, representing six different clubs from the Murray Valley playing area were spread across two greens, which was a sight to behold.
Spectators lined both sides along the full length of the greens, as well as those on the club veranda and in the club house, cheering their teams on.
There were some very close games and some not so close grand finals and while those that lost were disappointed, to make a grand final is an achievement in itself.
I once heard a speaker say, “to have played the game and lost, is better than to have never played the game at all”.
Visitors enjoyed the second sitting of afternoon tea and were happy to make a donation towards Swan Hill MRI machine fundraiser.
Sincere thanks to the ladies that prepared and served the afternoon tea and to all the members who helped with preparations before and on the day.
A special mention to our greenskeeper and helpers for having the greens in top condition for such a prestigious event.
Today will be our regular Friday Frolic game, beginning at 3pm, with names needing to be in by 2.30pm to be entered in the draw, with all welcome.
The elusive jackpot, now over $160, hasn’t been cracked yet, so who knows, a team may get lucky today.
If you miss out on winning bowls or the jackpot, you always have a chance of winning one of Mick’s raffle prizes, while enjoying a cool drink served by Vic and nibbling on a snack at the same time.
There are now 24 teams entered for our MRI Machine Fundraising tournament, being held on Sunday, March 23.

There are some excellent raffle prizes that have been donated by local businesses and members on offer, with visitors welcome to come along for afternoon tea and take part, with all money raised going to this worthwhile cause.
LAKE BOGA
PELICAN jackpot bowls returns on Saturday, with single entries and names to be in by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
Please ring the club on 5037 2301 to enter, with everyone welcome and the jackpot to start at $90.
Next week, barefoot bowls on Thursday night will be our annual fire brigade fundraiser, with single or team entries being taken by calling Ken on 0408 591 256.

Social bowls winners this week were Max Parsons, Richard Bruton and Rod Dewhurst, with two wins and a score of plus 13, while in second place was ‘Bones’ Smith and Greg Lewis with one draw, one win and a score of plus 15.
Well done to Greg, who is a first year player and skipped for his team on Wednesday.
NYAH DISTRICT
WELL done to our Division 4 team won the weekend pennant grand final last Saturday.
Congratulations also to Betty Baily, Gregory Brown, Thelma Watson and Mary Heap, who scored an eight in the grand final.
We would like thank all the supporters who came along and supported us.
The greens are open on Friday and Sunday for the men’s pairs and mixed pairs, so please get these games done before presentation night.
