Off to state finals

SEVERAL local bowlers will be heading to Bendigo in April for the state championships after winning their divisions at the Murray Mallee Championships held at the Murray Downs Bowls Club.

Held over the four days of the Labour Day long weekend, the event sees the winners from each of the four playing areas within the Murray Mallee region compete against each other to determine the regional winner,

The Murray Valley Playing Area will have five teams progress through to the state championships in Bendigo, with Racecourse Bowls Club’s Norm Smith also winning the Region 60-and-Over Singles event, which doesn’t proceed to state finals.

Men’s Pairs: Glen McIntosh and Norm Smith (Racecourse)

Men’s Fours: Garry McCaig, John Caldwell, Brian Lehmann and Josh Thornton (Murray Downs)

Ladies Singles: Alannah Taylor (Racecourse)

Ladies Pairs: Kerryn Evans and Jess Dehne (Moulamein)

Ladies Fours: Kylie Gardner (Racecourse), Doreen Weaver, Kerryn Evans and Jess Dehne (Moulamein)
