Bowls Notes

SWAN HILL

FRIDAY Frolic will be back on at the normal time slot of 3pm this Friday, with names to be entered by 2.30pm to be sure of a game.

The jackpot is still untouched so this Friday could be your lucky day, with all welcome to play and enjoy 10 ends of bowls.

Retire to the clubhouse after the game for happy hour drinks or a hot cuppa with a warm snack, with Mick’s raffles also waiting to be won.

A small field took part in our mini tournament last Friday, with the Racecourse team comprising R. Wolfe, N. Smith and M. Smith taking home the prize money.

Not to be satisfied with that, Ron and Norm also scored a meat tray each in the raffle, with Friday the 13th clearly being their lucky day!

The runner’s up prizes went to Lake Boga’s N. Hender, K. Kendall and M. Parsons.

The Swan Hill Bowls Club are also starting a new event called The Bridge Bowls Tournament on the first Friday of the month during the off season, when there is no Saturday pennant to be played the following day, with Friday, July 4, scheduled to be the first event.

More details to come next week.

Teams are rolling in for our Classic On The Murray event, with the format to be two-bowl triples and held on Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10.

All entries and enquiries can be made to M. Balchin on 0428 553 913.

Please note all annual subscriptions are now due and can be paid at the bar.

Finally, it was with sadness that we were informed of the passing of Hazel Lavey, a former member of the Swan Hill Bowls Club.

Hazel was a past president of the club and held many other positions within the club over the years.

She was a dedicated worker for the club and an amazing piano player and played for many items and dances at club functions.

If anyone could make a piano talk, it was Hazel.

Our sincere sympathy is extended to Hazel’s families.
