Digital boost for tourism firms

TOURISM operators in the Swan Hill municipality have been invited to participate in a free digital upskilling program.

Murray Regional Tourism has partnered with Tourism Tribe to roll out the free Digital Champions Program for the tourism industry.

Digital Champions Program aims to digitally transform tourism businesses, with each participating business receiving access to free resources and workshops for five months, from this week.

Participants in the program will create and work towards digital goals for their business, while identifying areas that require attention, and removing barriers to improve their online presence.

Murray River Regional Tourism interim chief executive Will Flamsteed said the program was a great way to showcase the wide range of businesses within the Murray and assist them on their digital journey.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have an extensive variety of tourism operators in the Murray who play a distinct role in enhancing the Murray River visitor experience,” he said.

“Following a really challenging two years with border closures, we’re delighted to invest in the local businesses within our region, equipping them with the skills they need to optimise their online presence by reaching a wider audience, and ultimately increasing tourism bookings and visitation within the region.”

The program features highly-tailored digital support, with participants receiving access to the course library, one-on-one coaching, a personalised Digital Engagement Health Check, and ATDW Health Check at the start of the program.

Workshop topics will cover essential online presence and digital marketing areas including social media, Facebook advertising, optimising local search and online listings including the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse and Google Business, search engine optimisation, analytics, and email marketing automation.
