Monahan first Victorian in LJ Hooker Hall of Fame

OVER the 95-year history of the network, LJ Hooker has admitted only 23 people from across Australia and New Zealand to its hall of fame.

A local man has become the first Victorian to be inducted into this exclusive group.

At a glittering annual awards ceremony last Saturday night, LJ Hooker Swan Hill Franchisee John Monahan was inducted into the hall of fame in recognition of his contribution to the network.

Steve Mutton, general manager of network, presented Mr Monahan with the award at the 2023 Night of The Stars event in Melbourne.

Mr Mutton said Mr Monahan’s contribution to the network included being recognised with the LJ Hooker Victorian Business Owner of the Year Award a number of times.

Mr Monahan is also the longest serving councillor on the national LJ Hooker franchise owners’ council and a life admiral of the LJ Hooker oganisation.

He was caught unaware by the announcement and said he felt quite humbled by the induction.

“I am deeply humbled by this recognition and can honestly say it has been a privilege to have served the network at this national level, and it has been very rewarding on a personal level,” he said.

“I am still very much enjoying my involvement in this brand that is synonymous with real estate across the nation.”

Mr Monahan paid tribute to his wife Jennifer for her support over the 39-year journey with LJ Hooker and thanked his staff for going the distance with him.

Special thanks were given to his senior property manager, Alistair Ward, who was present at the function.

Mr Monahan served as president of the council for two years and was a director of LJ Hooker Franchising Pty Ltd for four years.

He was also a director of LJ Hooker.com Pty Ltd for six years, during which he was involved in managing the national network and developing new business systems.
