Silly Solly move makes perfect sense

ONE of Swan Hill’s discount retailers, Silly Solly, has had a revamp, with new owner Marcia Bolan relocating from the hustle and bustle of western Sydney to the tranquil shores of the Murray.

The former nurse lost her husband two years ago and said she felt she needed a change, making her way to a town she had visited only once previously.

Ms Bolan said it had been a huge learning curve, with the retail world being completely different to nursing in a day-surgery unit.

“I am getting accustomed to the easier pace and more relaxed lifestyle of Swan Hill and absolutely loving it,” she said.

“I love the idea of the slowing down – I can get home in three minutes.

“The people here have been amazing and very welcoming.”

Ms Bolan has taken on four new employees from the local area and retained the original staff, taking the total to seven for the variety store.

Media spokesman for the group, Solly Stanton, said the retail model employed by the Silly Solly franchise had excelled in a bricks-and-mortar retail environment of extreme uncertainty.

“We have built a trusted reputation among our customers, with more than 10,000 products costing nothing over $5 under one roof, making shopping great again,” Mr Stanton said.

“We know our customers and give them what they want at the price they want to pay.”
