Saints triumph over Raiders by 23

JOINING Kerang in registering their first win of the season was Tooleybuc-Manangatang, with the Saints defeating Koondrook-Barham by 23 goals to climb off the bottom of the Central Murray A grade ladder.

After a 15-9 opening quarter, the Saints then continued to press home their advantage through the midcourt in the absence of Raiders’ centre Remy Doyle, opening up a 13 goal lead at the main break.

From then on, Tooleybuc-Manangatang were never challenged, with Summer Blachford (44 goals) and Shaniah Nunn (22 goals) combining well under the ring in the 66-41 win.

Also among the Saints better players was Taylah Morris, who made her return from injury to have an immediate impact at goal keeper, while Laura Carland was also influential at wing attack in the absence of Rhiann O’Meara, with Carland’s strong passes into the ring helping Blachford and Nunn have an impact.

For the Raiders, goal attack Tlarnee Lake led the scoring with 23 goals to be one of their better players.
