Swan Hill and Robinvale leisure centres get $3 million boost

THE Swan Hill and Robinvale leisure centres will get a funding boost of almost $3 million to revamp.

On Thursday, Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp announced a $2.95 million State Government investment, through the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program, at Robinvale Leisure Centre.

The funding will benefit Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Active Together project.

SHRCC Mayor Bill Moar said the funding would transform community indoor leisure centres in Swan Hill and Robinvale into fully inclusive, accessible, sustainable, multipurpose sport and recreation precincts.

The project is expected to get under way this month and be completed by March 2023.

Upgrades in Swan Hill will involve the expansion of the dry fitness room and a revamp of the gymnasium and group fitness areas, while in Robinvale, the redevelopment includes the addition of a stadium court suitable for futsal, basketball, netball and volleyball, and an extension of the popular gymnasium space.

The additions provide new spaces for local indoor sports and health and fitness to expand local programs, including for the local Aboriginal community, through partnerships with the Murray Valley Aboriginal Cooperative and the Robinvale Clontarf Academy.
