Memorial for Jill this Sunday

SWAN Hill will come together this weekend to celebrate the life of the late Jill Pattenden.

Forever humble, Ms Pattenden was not fussed about having anything special after her passing, but family and friends -and the community more broadly – are still keen to remember her many contributions.

This Sunday October 10 at 1pm at Riverside Park there will be an event to pay tribute to an iconic community member, former teacher, volunteer and refugee advocate.

A flame tree will be planted and a plaque installed, so generations of locals can be inspired by Jill’s example.

For those who cannot make the event in person, there will be a virtual livestream at livingitlive.com.au/jill-pattenden/

Jill’s niece Robyn Zumstein advised that those at home should connect a few minutes early, and the video will still be available to view for the following 30 days.

There will also be a slideshow at the end of the celebration shown online, available to be viewed via the same link.

Park attendees will be able to congregate in groups of up to ten for the thanksgiving service which will then allow for up to 300 to participate under current restrictions.

There will be a QR code for the gathering, and people are reminded to abide by COVID19 restrictions.
