DANCE It Up held their debutante ball last Saturday, and co-coordinator Nikki Capone said the night was a resounding success.
“Everyone had a wonderful time and the kids did amazingly, I’m so proud of them,” she said.
“This deb is also meaningful because it’s been postponed three times now, and we’re so glad we managed to put it on before some of the kids went to uni.
“It was just so important to get it done.”
There was only a slight challenge before the big night, with the venue needing to change at the last minute.
“We were going to have it at Racecourse Bowls Club, but because of the weather we needed to shift it to the Town Hall,” Ms Capone said.
“We would like to thank Racecourse Bowls for being incredibly understanding, and for the Town Hall for being so accommodating.
“And considering that the kids had to adjust they did really well, we only needed to change a few things in rehearsal.
“They didn’t miss a beat.”
Ms Capone co-coordinated the debutante ball with Sarah Rose and Trudy Rose, and thanked them for their hard work.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them,” she said.
“Also Hailey Summerhaze and family, they have been so incredible.”
A debutante ball is traditionally seen as a young woman presenting herself to society, dressed all in white.
“Debutante balls have changed significantly to be a bit more modern,” Ms Capone said.
“But it still remains a special night for the ladies and their dates.”
The Dance It Up debutante ball had an Australian theme, with Australian music and gum leaves and white bottle brush.
“It was such a fantastic night, we had many good reports about it,” Ms Capone said.
“And for the kids but also the town, it was such a big social event post-COVID.
“Everyone who helped out to put it all together was so fantastic, especially the kids,” Ms Capone said.
