Robinvale Christmas Carnival set to bring festive spirit

ROBINVALE residents are ready to welcome back big events with a Christmas Carnival set to go ahead this Friday.

The Robinvale Euston Business Association (REBA) has planned the event to celebrate the holiday season and a return to normality.

Event co-organiser Jess Smyth said the carnival is a “local community event, it’s free to everyone and it’s basically just a big market”.

“We will have lots of food trucks, local boutique stalls as well as the businesses in the town that will be open late.”

There will also be a pop-up bar for those wanting to enjoy a few drinks.

The carnival will be held in Caix Square and Perrin Street, which will be closed to traffic.

“People will be able to just wander around the shops and stuff.”

As well as being a market style setting, Ms Smyth said there will be “live entertainment and Christmas carols” as well as a visit from Santa.

Ms Smyth said REBA are very excited for the event.

“I think it’ll be really nice to finally be able to get out and enjoy the local community.”

She said the last big event that occurred in Robinvale was the Easter festival.

“Since then we haven’t been able to have some of our bigger events like the Mallee Almond Blossom Festival, which normally goes ahead but obviously couldn’t this year because of COVID.”

Ms Smyth said they have already had a good response from the town.

“We’ve had a really good buy in from the different groups.

“The Rotary Club is on board, the Christmas Carol committee is on board, the Lions Club are on board, the Network House also.

“We’ve tried to bring together all the groups that would normally do something around this time in order to have one big event,” she said.

“I think it will bring a really diverse mix of people together.”

Ms Smyth is hoping for a big turn out on the night.

“The community seems to be really excited so hopefully we can make some noise and get people on board leading up to the event.”

“We would encourage anyone from the local towns all around to pop in and enjoy it.”

The event will run from 5-9pm on Friday.
