THE Swan Hill Sikh Association has handed over $600 to the Swan Hill hospital, raised during their Harmony Day food stall.
The association’s treasurer Jasdeep Singh and president Jagandeep Singh met with Swan Hill District Health’s corporate business director Kim Bennetts.
The association cooked up a storm of chickpea curry, rice and tea for the community during the Harmony Week celebrations to raise the funds.
The men said they were inspired by other Sikh groups in the country who do so much in the way of fundraising, and they hope to offer free food for the needy in the future.
“We are hoping to cook free meals for maybe Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas, in future,” Jagandeep said.
Ms Bennetts said the hospital staff were always grateful for community donations and she thanked the Sikh Association for their generosity.
