SWAN Hill Incorporated chairman John Charleson will be selling and promoting the Swan Hill region when he participates in the Variety Bash.
Mr Charleson is part of a four-way syndicate, with a share in Swan Hill’s very own Variety Bash Car, sponsored by the Ace Radio Network.
This trip will mark the fourth Variety Bash event which the 1984 WB Statesman has taken part in. This year Mr Charleson will be at the helm, with his son Jack and his brother-in-law James.
Mr Charleson said this trip will be his second Bash. He completed in 2019, travelling from Melbourne to Geraldton.
Looking forward to once again soaking up the Variety Bash atmosphere, while supporting a worthwhile cause, Mr Charleson is hoping to raise in excess of $100,000, with the help of their major sponsor.
Set to clock up around 5000km during their 10-day journey, the trip will take participants from Melbourne to Cairns.
They will pass through the mining towns of Cobar, Broken Hill and Mt Isa, the Outback towns of Marree and Birdsville and the coastal towns of Karumba and Cairns.
“It’s going to be a really diverse trip,” Mr Charleson said.
“We’re going to cover a lot of countryside.”
While fundraising efforts are in full swing, Mr Charleson said the trip would also benefit the Swan Hill region.
Passionate about his hometown of Swan Hill, Mr Charleson said he was looking forward to promoting the town and region, while contributing to a wonderful charity which will benefit sick and disadvantaged children.
