It’s Show time for volunteers

WITH Swan Hill Show just six weeks away, organisers are calling for a helping hand from volunteers.

Show secretary Jessica Rue said that in addition to the show committee, the event relied on around 100 volunteers each year to ensure its success.

The volunteers take on various roles, and are required at different times in the lead-up to the two-day event.

Ms Rue said the roles were not limited to a specific skill set.

“We welcome anyone who would like to help out,” Ms Rue said, noting the only requirement was an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.

From marking out sites and steward runners, to assisting with catering and putting together the pavilion displays, Ms Rue said there was something for everyone.

“Some of the roles are quite physical and require young legs, with lots of climbing up and down ladders,” she said.

“We also require people who are good with computers, who could help design posters or write out the winners on prize cards – there’s a job for everyone.”

Anyone who is interested in a volunteer opportunity with the show committee is urged to contact their office.
