Mobile Service Centre tours region

A mobile government service centre, providing locals with face to face information about essential government services, will be in the Loddon-Mallee region over the next two weeks.

Staff of the Mobile Service Centre Golden Wattle, which will travel through the region from Monday, August 29, to Friday, September 9, can answer questions about services including Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support.

The Golden Wattle is one of three trucks in the Mobile Service Centre fleet run by Services Australia.

Member for Mallee Anne Webster highlighted the importance of this service for regional communities.

“For many communities across the Mallee, distance and location is a significant barrier to service access,” Dr Webster said.

“The versatility of the Mobile Service Centres means they can quickly move to different regions and are often one of the first points of contact for people following an emergency.

“I hope that all those who need to access these services can do so when the Golden Wattle truck is in their town.

“Anyone with Centrelink or Medicare questions should head down and talk to the staff aboard Golden Wattle.”

The service centre will start in Pyramid Hill on August 29 before heading to Boort, Birchip, Wedderburn, Bridgewater, Donald and Charlton over the following days, with the tour finishing in St Arnaud where the centre will spend two days from the September 8 to 9.
