Funding for Men’s Shed

THE Nyah and District Men’s Shed has carved out funding for upgrades and expansion.

Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp last week announced the Men’s Shed was one of dozens across the state to receive a slice of funds through the 2022-23 Men’s Shed Funding Program.

Nyah and District Men’s Shed will use the $1,200 to upgrade lighting at their facilities at the Masonic Hall from fluorescent to LED.

The upgrades will ensure members have suitable lighting to complete projects, as well as moving to more efficient and sustainable lighting.

“Men’s Sheds groups create practical and engaging spaces which support local communities in many ways, such as running first aid courses, building picnic tables for local schools and making toys for local childcare groups,” Mr Gepp said.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all Victorians in different ways and these grants will give local communities an opportunity to establish a Men’s Shed or undertake refurbishments to create safe, productive and accessible meeting places.”

There are more than 360 communities with Men’s Sheds throughout Victoria.
