Swan Hill gardens open for a cause

FOUR beautiful gardens will open their gates on Sunday for the annual Swan Hill District Health open garden day.

Gloria McKerrow and Jill Brown said one garden at 58 Bish Road, Swan Hill would provide the opportunity for guests to purchase a variety of plants and produce and enjoy an afternoon tea on the grounds.

The gardens will be located at 335 River Road, Swan Hill (Nola and Kelvin Jones); 4751 Murray Valley Highway, Castle Donnington (Lyn and John Gadsden); 58 Bish Road, Swan Hill (Mary and Joe Lockhart); and 16 Gillespie Street, Swan Hill (Jill and Neil Brown).

Ms McKerrow said the the money raised from the event would go to purchase new equipment at the hospital.

“It’s a good chance for people to come together, to help the local hospital and appreciate at some of the beautiful gardens we have in the area,” she said.

“If the weather preceding the event is inclement, it will be postponed to the next weekend, October 30.

“Grounds are saturated and we must be prepared to postpone it in the interests of the garden owners and the safety of the public attending.”

The gardens will be open between 12.30pm-5pm with entry $5 per garden.

Afternoon tea will be available for $5.

Raffles are $2 each or $5 for three. Brochures will be available at each garden.
