Organisers of the long-running event cancelled this year’s Carols by Candlelight due to logistical issues with audio and high river uncertainty, but with water receding, new organisers heard the chorus of cries.
Presented by the Swan Hill Canoe Club, carols will be sung at Riverside Park on Sunday, from 6pm.
Craig Harvey said a group formed and decided to hold the event after it had fallen silent for three years due to COVID-19.
“Swan Hill was crying out for it,” he said.
“We saw lots of posts on Facebook sharing sadness that it wasn’t being held again.
“It’s a great thing to be able to put on.”
Local church members will perform carols at the three-hour event.
Mr Harvey said the event would return a lovely vibe to the river, appreciated by the community.
“It’s a festive time, so we need to share fellowship and unity, especially after the pandemic and floods,” he said.
There will be face-painting for children and food and drinks available, with Bean Hopper coffee and Frosty Monkeys.
Carollers should bring a rug or chairs.
Entry and song books will be free.
