Encore for carols choir

VOICES were in fine form at Lake Boga’s first ever Carols by Candlelight on Saturday.

The Lions Club of Lake Boga, in conjunction with the newly-formed Catalina Christmas Choir, staged the event on the foreshore, with a strong crowd enjoying the carolling, ice creams and a barbecue cooked by the Leo Club.

Lions Club president Robyn Howarth was pleased with the success of the event.

“The event was exactly what had been envisaged and the creation of a choir, led by choir director and organist Keren Smith, had brought a lot of joy to those involved,” Ms Howarth said.

“The choir practised at the Uniting Church in the lead up to the event, with new members joining at each session.

“We have been asked if the practice sessions can continue and possibly be a monthly event, which is something we are very keen to offer the community.”

Santa arrived towards the end of the evening, courtesy of the Lake Boga Fire Brigade, to hand out lollies and have photos taken with the children.

The choir will perform an encore one-hour performance outside Sportspower in Campbell Street, Swan Hill today, from 5pm.
