Over the moon with Under The Stars

THE Riverside Park sound shell was full of music and excitement for RockWiz Live! Under The Stars.

About 900 people filled the outdoor venue last Saturday evening, which Swan Hill Town Hall venue manager Simon Myers said was great to see.

“Because of the weather here in Swan Hill, it is something that can be really utilised,” Mr Myers told The Guardian.

“Coming from Melbourne, it’s almost like throwing your cards up in the air and seeing which one lands to see whether you are going to get rain, hail or shine, but here it is far more predictable.

“That soundshell, everyone’s seen it and they have just sort of got used to it, but when I first saw it, I definitely thought of it as a mini Myer Music Bowl.

“And I think seeing it set up that way just shows you the further potential.”

Much like the program you would see on TV, RockWiz Live! Under The Stars went through the process of choosing the contestants from the audience.

However, they also added a karaoke section, in which they got people up to sing songs.

“I think the beautiful thing about it is that it’s very much the same as what you see on TV, just a live version of it, which works really well,” Mr Myers said.

He believed the whole community benefitted from show and he hoped to see more shows like it come to Swan Hill in the future.

“I think that it’s important that Swan Hill establishes itself as a destination venue for these types of shows,” he said.

“The important thing is if people support these things, we will get more of them here.”
