Balranald appeals to hearts

BALRANALD Ex-Services Club will hold its annual Good Friday Appeal raffle on Friday afternoon as part of a the national effort to improve the lives of sick kids.

Last year the club raised more than $7000, however general manager Jacquii Richardson is hopeful for an even bigger effort this year.

Ms Richardson said the aim was achievable with the generosity of locals on full display.

“The townspeople, both businesses and individuals, are really generous with what they donate, which is fantastic,” she said.

“We also get plenty of donations from our suppliers.

“We’ve contacted every supplier this year, and there’s been a lot of wine donated from them.”

BESC employees have been hard at work rattling tins around town.

“One of our girls has been walking around town with the tin during the week and at the footy club’s goat races on Saturday,” Ms Richardson said.

The raffle will be drawn in a spinning-wheel format from 4pm.

“There are plenty of prizes on offer from chocolates, gift vouchers, movie tickets and baskets of goodies,” Ms Richardson said.
