Makers in the spotlight

THE Swan Hill Town Hall Twilight Arts Market is back by popular demand.

The market with a bonus, including workshops, an exhibition, entertainment and food offerings, returns next month.

After the overwhelming support for the first Swan Hill Town Hall Twilight Arts Market in February, with an estimated attendance of more than 1000, the Swan Hill Town Hall Performing Arts Centre will hold a Winter Twilight Arts Market on Sunday, July 16, from 2pm to 6pm.

Market curator and artist Nina McNamara said the focus was on showcasing local and regional talent and to give people who don’t normally have an outlet to sell and exhibit their work an opportunity to do so.

“So this is more an arts and crafts market, as opposed to your farmers’ market.

“To be accepted as stallholder, you have to be the main producer of your own products,” Ms McNamara said.

Stallholders already chosen to showcase their products include visual artist Kristen Cowland, who sells Acrylic Intuitive Paintings, and Cakes By Emily, a business that creates delicious and appealing baked goods.

Also on show will be the work of Indigenous artist Tobie Cameron, whose original paintings will be for sale, and Kenita-Lee McCartney, founder of Kenita. Lee at Matakupaat Arts, whose range of creative products will be available.

Vendors who would like to be considered for market stall space still time to register.
