Riverside Park fun run

A COMMUNITY fun run/walk event is set for Riverside Park next month.

In partnership with Youth Inc, The Rural Youth Network is bringing the “Colour Me Rural” event to town.

From 9am on Sunday, October 8, families and community members are invited to join a race or to come along to cheer each other on.

People of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in a 5km or 10km Fun Run/Walk at Riverside Park, as well as a 3km Colour Run/Walk.

The event’s manager Stephanie Hartsthorn grew up in Swan Hill and attended school locally before joining Youthrive Victoria as an engagement leader.

Ms Hartsthorn said she wanted to host a fun event for young people within her local community.

“The Rural Youth Network is a unique blended online and in-person community created by young people to provide rural young people access to events, activities, and resources across the state,” she said.

“Colour Me Rural is just one such event that we are hosting to cultivate a sense of community, and help young people make new connections and have some fun.

“We are keen to let young people know about the amazing opportunities that the Rural Youth Network has to offer such as mentoring; leadership programs; and University and TAFE scholarships.

The Rural Youth Network is an initiative of Youthrive Victoria, an education charity which aims to offer young regional and rural Victorian’s better access to education and career opportunities.

Youthrive Victoria’s purpose is to strengthen rural communities by supporting young people to become the best person they can.
