MURRAY River Council is calling for community members to nominate candidates for its Australia Day awards.
Nominations are open for groups or individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.
Murray River Council Acting Mayor Frank Crawley said the awards gave the opportunity for the community to recognise its forgotten heroes.
“From volunteers to innovators, our area is full of remarkable people. Help us honour them by nominating in the Australia Day awards,” Cr Crawley said.
“Australia Day provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge those individuals who volunteer so much of their time to ensure community services, initiatives and other important activities continue to prosper across our council area.
“Let’s come together as a community and celebrate some of our unsung heroes through the awards process.”
There are a range of award categories open for nominations, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year.
A full list of categories and nomination forms can be found online at yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au.
Nominations close November 12, with the awards to be presented on Australia Day next year.
