Gardens open in aid of hospital

CELEBRATING spring and supporting the local hospital at the same time is an initiative of the Swan Hill District Health Op Shop.

On Sunday from 12.30pm to 4.30pm there will be four local gardens open for viewing.

These masterpieces are the tireless work of some dedicated gardeners in the region.

Nikki and Pat Williams will open their garden at 101 River Road, as will Dianne and Mac Angus, where beautiful orchids will delight.

At Rob and Marie Masters’ house at 5395 Murray Valley Highway there will also be a plant and produce stall as well as afternoon tea available for $10.

Across the river, Craig and Carrie-Ann Robins will welcome guests to their garden at 1 Kidman Drive in Murray Downs.

There will be a charge of $5 for entry per garden as this is a major fundraising event for Swan Hill District Health in support of the hospital’s work.

Committee member Jill Brown said they encouraged everyone to join in.

“I would like to see people to come along enjoy the gardens and get inspired to do things in their own gardens,” Ms Brown said.

“Generally the town responds very well and we get a good roll-up of people supporting us.

“There will also be a raffle, which has been running at the Op Shop, available at the Masters’ house on the Murray Valley Highway.”
