In the market for a bargain

The excitement is already building as Swan Hill prepares for its second Market Day for the year.

Held at Easter and in October the event is a much-anticipated occasion on the Swan Hill calendar organised by Swan Hill Inc.

Campbell Street will come alive on Saturday with more than 35 stalls as it is closed to traffic between McCallum and McCrae streets.

Swan Hill Inc marketing coordinator Remi Maher said that stall holders are coming from as far away as Mildura and Bendigo.

“It’s not just Swan Hill but we also get people from the surrounding regions which is really great,” Ms Maher said.

“The basketball tournament is also on and that will bring a few thousand people into the town, so it will be a big weekend for the town.

“It’s one of the biggest events for the town and it will be great to get some money back into the shops.

“Just a really awesome event.”

Well-known local performer Elise Drake is appearing between 11am and 1pm to keep people entertained, as well as face-painting, a jumping castle, a rock climbing wall and a petting zoo for the kids.

It’s a great chance to get an early start on the Christmas shopping with many handmade and bespoke items available that will make for some personal and unique gifts for the special people in your life.
