Tooleybuc markets growing

IT started out as an idea to showcase local produce available around Tooleybuc back in November last year.

Now it is a monthly event occurring on the third Sunday of each month and this month it will be on April 21.

Mensforth Park, on the banks of the Murray River, will be abuzz with families as they enjoy the atmosphere and excitement that an open air market brings.

The event, from 9am-11am, is growing each month with an additional five stalls to feature this month.

Organiser Laurene McKenzie said the market is becoming a local attraction with stall holders very happy with the response.

“The concept around the market is people having grown, produced or made the product that they bring to the market,” Ms McKenzie said.

“An additional drawcard is the Bridge Keepers Op Shop which opens on the Sunday of the market as a special thing.

“It is a great opportunity for families to come to Tooleybuc and not only browse some of the unique stalls at the market, but also have a picnic on the lawn.”

“It is also a good excuse to relax and have a coffee by the river with a coffee van coming to the market and local coffee shop, the Old Butcher Shop Cafe, also open.

Another feature of this month’s market is an animal presentation with creatures such as blue tongue lizards and tame birds, presented by the Echuca Discoveries team.
