COMMUNITY organisations across the Swan Hill District are set to benefit from recently announced grants that will support projects and activities that help recovery from the 2022 flood.
Eligible community groups can apply for up to $5000, with projects that will provide information, support and services to the community being prioritised.
Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Cr Stuart King said the grants came “in response to the ongoing needs of the community in recovering from this significant event.”
“Council, alongside Emergency Recovery Victoria, through the Community Recovery Hubs program, is pleased to announce the launch of the Community Flood Recovery and Resilience Grants,” he said.
“This program has been designed to provide support to eligible community organisations by funding events, activities, programs, and projects aimed at enhancing community resilience and aiding in the recovery process.
“These grants are a crucial step towards supporting those impacted communities to recover and become more resilient in the face of future challenges.”
Eligibility criteria can be found online and includes being located within the municipality or providing programs and services locally, having adequate legal and insurance requirements as well as an ABN.
Applicants are encouraged to speak to council officers if they want to confirm whether their group or project fits the criteria.
SHRCC are looking to fund activities and projects that strengthen community resilience and increase the community’s sense of belonging.
These may include on-site and outreach recovery services, events that will enable social connection and capital, and the purchasing of equipment that aids in recovery and response.
Costs associated with the running of events may include promotion, venue hire, catering transport and equipment hire. Funded activities must begin and be completed within the funding period to be eligible
Applications opened on August 1 and will close January 31 next year or once all funds have been committed, with applicants notified within six weeks of their success.
