Crafty kinder kids

CHILDREN in early learning and childcare in Swan Hill have had the opportunity to use their vivid imaginations to create decorated wooden spoons, painted rocks, and necklaces for the Swan Hill Show.

This year, children at early childhood education centre Young Adventurers are showcasing their creative skills through their entries for junior handcrafts and hobbies.

Educator at the Chapman Street childcare centre Georgie Brown said the children who are all aged 3 to 4 years old entered two pieces of artwork each.

“They all had different ideas of what they wanted to do and they’re all very unique,” she said.

“Some have made animals, people, and even themselves, and some have decorated their pieces with jewels.”

Ms Brown said the show was a good opportunity for the children to be involved with the wider community.

“I think that has been the main motivator behind why we had everyone enter,” Ms Brown said.

“This is the perfect way to be part of the tight knit community in Swan Hill.”

“The children also got to spend lots of time interacting with each other while working on their project, and they’re really excited to be sharing their art with the community.”

The children will have their entries judged on Saturday October 4 at the pavilion.

Ms Brown said the children have been working on their projects with excitement and enthusiasm.

“It’s been very sweet watching the process unfold,” she said.

“They are super excited to see their work on display at the show.”

“They had lots of fun making their spoons, necklaces and rocks and they’re also excited to see if they can win a prize.”

“They talked about what they would do when they win a prize and lots of the children said they would throw a kinder party and share the prizes with their friends.”
