Garden bedded down

RESIDENTS of Nyah West and from surrounding towns got their hands dirty at Monash Drive for the official opening of the town’s community garden on Friday morning last week.

More than 60 people attended the community garden’s open day which was funded by Swan Hill Rural City Council, Mallee Family Care and Bendigo Health.

Secretary of the Nyah District Action Group Vicki Allen said it was a terrific day thanks to the support of the community.

“It was just lovely seeing so many people there,” she said.

“This was also possible because of the funding from council Mallee Family Care and Bendigo Health.”

Aside from helping plant the garden, attendees helped themselves to a free snag cooked by volunteers from the Nyah District Lions Club.

Activities including a scavenger hunt, as well as arts and crafts were provided for children.
