We Believe in Unicorns returns

LOCAL charity, We Believe in Unicorns, has continued to provide a little bit of sparkle to those in need throughout 2024.

This year saw the charity make its comeback, following the COVID-19 hiatus, which saw many fundraising activities come to a halt.

Founding treasurer of the group, John Daniel, who has taken on the role of chair of the committee, said he had the passion and drive to reignite the charity.

Founded by Lynne Heslop in 2018, the charity has already helped many local families in times of need.

“Life can change in an instant,” Mr Daniel said.

“We’re fortunate that we can help give back to the local community.”

The charity restarted its fundraising efforts in July, taking over the management role of Swan Hill’s monthly Sunday market.

Mr Daniel said the event had experienced significant growth in the last six months.

“We’ve had increased stall holders each month, with some travelling from Bendigo and Echuca to be a part,” Mr Daniel said.

“It’s good for everybody. We want the monthly market to be a social meeting point for all members of the community.”

Looking towards 2025, Mr Daniel said he hoped to raise the profile of the charity throughout the Mallee, and had some fresh fundraising ideas in the pipeline.

“We want to see the market continue to grow and get our name out there,” Mr Daniel said.

“Hopefully next year we can host a few more events as well.”
