Wemen makes progress with celebrations

THE small town of Wemen between Robinvale and Manangatang will be holding Australia Day celebrations thanks to volunteers of the Wemen Progress Association.

Association president Annie Carey said the event was previously organised by the CFA, but did not continue running after COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020.

“We thought that we should do something about it, so we’re organising it this year,” Ms Carey said.

The event will be held at the Wemen Hall on Sunday, January 26, from 7am to 10am.

Volunteers will be providing a barbecue breakfast with coffee and tea available.

“Hopefully we can get a lot of people to come for a chat and enjoy some breakfast together,” Ms Carey said.

Entry is free but gold coin donations are welcome.
