Manangatang citizen of year an inspiration to others

MANANGATANG Citizen of the Year 2025 was awarded to Emma Hicks for her valuable contribution to the community.

Since Ms Hicks arrival in 2009, she has displayed unwavering dedication to the Manangatang community.

She has been a tireless advocate for those around her, offering her support and care with honesty, respect, confidentiality, and compassion.

Her contributions extend far beyond her professional roles; she has been an integral part of the community’s fabric.

Whether it’s offering a ride to someone in need, carrying groceries, picking up parcels, or simply being there for those who require assistance, her willingness to help others is without question.

She is especially dedicated to the elderly in Manangatang, ensuring they feel safe and secure in their environment, and always acting as a voice to convey their concerns to the appropriate authorities or organisations.

Her support for young parents is equally commendable.

She not only provides childcare but also engages with children to create a nurturing, comforting environment.

She has also played a significant role in organising events like the Manangatang and Districts Christmas Tree and has helped introduce local children to the emergency services in a way that is both fun and educational.

Her community service extends into her volunteer work with the Manangatang Fire Brigade, where she has served as a 2nd Lieutenant, Road Rescue qualified member, Brigade Community Safety Representative, Brigade Training Officer, and Robinvale and District Group Delegate.

Her expertise, combined with her dedication to ongoing training, ensures that she is an invaluable asset to both her brigade and her community.

Ms Hicks involvement in numerous emergency incidents in both her local community and outlying areas speaks volumes of her commitment.

Additionally, as a volunteer member of Ambulance Victoria, Ms Hicks serves as the team leader of the Manangatang Branch, where she demonstrates professionalism and exceptional leadership in responding to emergencies.

Her role as an ambassador for emergency services is also evident through her efforts in organising and encouraging participation in the Emergency Services Bowls Day, a vital fundraising event for the community.

Her contributions to the local race meeting, where she assists with preparation, clean-up, and community engagement, further exemplify her selfless nature.

Her dedication to personal development and the wellbeing of those around her inspires others to get involved and care for their fellow community members.

Ms Hicks selflessness, leadership, and deep sense of responsibility are just a few of the qualities that make her an outstanding pillar of the Manangatang community.
