Making a splash at Lake Boga

LAKE Boga is gearing up for an action-packed day as the Splash Down & Rev Up event returns to the foreshore on Sunday, March 9.

The day is set to be packed full of entertainment with aviation stunts and classic cars on display.

From 9am to 4:30pm, the Lake Boga Foreshore will transform into a show for aviation enthusiasts, car lovers, and families.

Entry is $10 cash per adult (16+), while children under 15 years old can join the fun for free, as long as they are with an adult.

The day will be action packed as the skies over Lake Boga display the skills of Australian Aerobatic Champion, Glenn Graham.

Joining him is pilot Paul Bennet, whose high-flying stunts promise to leave people in awe.

These displays are a must see for anyone with a love for aviation.

On the ground, people can explore a showcase of classic cars and motorbikes.

Owners of vintage vehicles are invited to join the display by entering through the back of the Yacht Club for just $10 cash per vehicle, which includes entry for the driver and one passenger.

The Splash Down & Rev Up event isn’t just for plane and car enthusiasts.

It will also see the return of the boat parade.

Boat owners are invited to decorate their vessels in the theme of “Your favourite movie”.

Whether you own a tinny, jet ski or cruiser, owners and riders are encouraged to dress up alongside your boat to get involved.

Families and spectators are welcome to come along and watch the show while also enjoying a variety of foods, markets, and plenty of kid friendly activities over the course of the day.

For anyone who wants to dive into the rich history of aviation in Lake Boga, the nearby Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum is the place to be.

Museum entry is $10 cash for adults and $5 for children aged 5 – 15 years old.

Flying Boat Museum manager Markeeta Blair said the day will be a wonderful community event.

“We have a range of displays to enjoy throughout the day,” she said.

“We are expecting around 4000 people to enjoy the activities of the event with 6000 total expected throughout the day.

“The Lake Boga Splash Down & Rev Up event is one of the most affordable events to attend.

“Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a great day out.

“There’ll be delicious food and drinks available from local vendors, including the Lake Boga Football Netball Club and the Lake Boga Primary School.

“Whether you’re a heavy aviation or car fan or a family looking for something to do, Splash Down & Rev Up will deliver an action-packed event.

Don’t forget to bring some cash for entry and food throughout the day.

Boat owners wanting to become involved in the parade are encouraged to reach out as soon as possible and register their interest.

To get an entry and registration form email manager@flyingboat.org.au or call 0484 750 252.

Registrations for boat owners close on March 2.
