A good kitchen, a good community

A GOOD Kitchen has received three donations from local businesses and organisations in recognition of the service they provide to the Swan Hill community.

Are-Able donated $750, Swan Hill Community Bank contributed $3000 and Swan Hill Masonic Lodge donated $2000.

A Good Kitchen has been serving warm meals in a welcoming space since 2018.

The St Vincent De Paul initiative provides a nutritious two-course dinner every Tuesday night at St. Mary’s Parish in Swan Hill

St. Vincent de Paul president Brian Richardson said the service was about more than just a warm meal.

“For the people of Swan Hill, it’s more than just a meal; it’s a chance to come together, have a chat, and share joy,” he said.

“Much of the success of A Good Kitchen is due to the offerings from local produce growers and the dedicated group of volunteers who prepare and serve the meals each week.

“I am honoured by the generosity and overwhelming support of the community.”

Swan Hill Masonic Lodge representative Jim Thompson said A Good Kitchen was a valuable community resource.

“It’s a service that’s truly making a difference in Swan Hill by providing a hot, wholesome meal every week for those who attend,” he said.

For anyone wanting to support A Good Kitchen, contact Brian Richardson on 0493 683 610, or A Good Kitchen coordinator Daryl Pearce at St. Mary’s Parish Centre on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm to 6pm.
