2024 Christmas Light Competition – Terms and Conditions

  1. Information on how to enter this promotion and other details contained within the advertisements for this promotion form part of these Terms and Conditions. By participating entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  2. Entry is online only at www.theguardian.com.au/competitions. The entry form must be correctly filled out and a high resolution photo of the display attached.
  3. Entries open from Friday November 1, 2024.
  4. Entries close Friday December 6, 2024 at 5pm. Late entries may not be accepted as voting commences immediately after at 6pm.
  5. Categories are Best Business Christmas Window Display, People Choice Best Residence, Best Inflatable Display. Private addresses only, except for entries in the Best Business Christmas Window Display.
  6. All entrants’ addresses will be displayed online for public voting at www.theguardian.com.au/competitions . Voting will be open from 6pm Friday December 6, 2024 and will close at 6pm Friday December 13, 2024. Winners announced and published in The Guardian on Friday December 20, 2024.
  7. If the option is chosen to have address included on Map but not in competition, the address will only be included in the Christmas Light Competition list printed in The Guardian, the address will not be listed online with competition entries.
  8. The 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, Best Business Christmas Window Display and Best Inflatable Display winners will be determined by the sponsored business delegate and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The People Choice Best Residence winner will be the result of public voting online at www.theguardian.com.au/competitions on the Swan Hill’s Christmas Light Competition Voting Form. The official results calculated by the public votes submitted online will determine the winner and no correspondence will be entered into. Online voting is limited to one vote per IP address.
  10. Prize allocation will be as follows: Best Residence Display 1st Place $1000 sponsored by The Guardian, 2nd Place $500 sponsored by BBKM, 3rd Place $250 sponsored by Mallee Milk Distributors, Best Business Christmas Window Display $1000 sponsored by Ray White and Swan Hil Inc, Peoples Choice Best Residence $500 sponsored by G.J. Gardner Homes, Best Inflatable Display $250 sponsored by VHM Limited. Total value of prizes on offer $3500.
  11. The winners will be contacted by phone. The winners will be announced and published in The Guardian on Friday December 20, 2024. Prizes are not transferable and ID may be required to collect. Prizes will be available for collection at each sponsored location.
  12. All addresses entered will be listed on a Swan Hill’s Christmas Light Competition map to be published online and inside The Guardian newspaper consistently between December 10, 2024 and December 24, 2024.
  13. Entry is open to all residents of Australia who are not employees or agents of either ENG Media companies or their immediate families.
  14. Prize winners may be required for a newspaper photograph to be used for promotional purposes relating to the competition.
