Two days and one weekend

IT’S two days and one weekend for round five of the Swan Hill District Cricket Association season, with A grade sides set to battle it out all weekend for the first time this summer.

Games will start tomorrow and continue on Sunday, with RSL hosting Nyah District in the game of the week.

Other games will see Ultima TUF hosting Tooleybuc Manangatang, Woorinen playing St Mary’s Tyntynder and Lakers and Swan Hill playing at Boga.

RSL v Nyah District

THIS one looks like being the pick of the weekend’s games.

Both sides tasted success in the first two-day round of the summer, which ended last weekend.

For RSL, it was a confidence boosting run-chase against Swan Hill, which saw the visitors stare-down and reach the home side’s total of 227.

They then passed it by 20 or so runs and earned the first-innings points.

For Nyah District, round four was a total annihilation of Ultima TUF.

While the game would rightly give Nyah plenty of confidence going forward, it will also need to guard against complacency against what appears to be a much-improved RSL side.

Ultima TUF v Tooleybuc Manangatang

THE immediate future isn’t looking a lot brighter for Ultima TUF after going down to Nyah District in a disastrous two-day game that ended last weekend.

Nothing went right for UTUF from the start, with the visitors batting first and being bowled out for a paltry 83.

Trent Thompson did most of the damage for Nyah with 3/13, but Ultima is likely to have as hard a time tomorrow facing the likes of Leigh Kentish and Sam Grant, both of whom claimed two wickets last week against Woorinen.

After a couple of difficult years, Tooleybuc Manangatang is up and about early this season after knocking off Woorinen last weekend.

The confidence should go a long way this weekend.
