RSL and Woorinen to face off again

SWAN Hill District Cricket Association’s 12th round of the season will present some interesting match-ups after a one-sided finish to round 11 last weekend.

In contests that will go a long way to shaping the final four, RSL and Woorinen and Tooleybuc Manangatang and Swan Hill will take each other on.

Top of the ladder Nyah District will play St Mary’s Tyntynder and Ultima TUF hosts Lakers.

RSL v Woorinen

LESS than a week after meeting in the Kookaburra Cup final, RSL and Woorinen will meet again in the first day of a two-day game at North Park.

Both sides enjoyed comprehensive two-day wins last Saturday before meeting in the one-day decider on Sunday.

Craig Fletcher and Duane Bruton have proven a handy opening bowling pair for RSL, with the pair all but dismissing UTUF single-handedly in their first innings.

Brenton Caldwell, Paul Munro and Dwayne Birch have been important batsmen for RSL for the last few weeks.

For Woorinen, Guri Singh and Jake Schmidt will make a difference bowling, while Dean Morpeth, Jamie Crabbe and Glenn Violi are having good seasons with the bat.

Ultima TUF v Lakers

AFTER suffering outright defeats last week, both Ultima TUF and Lakers will look to bounce back as quickly as possible when their match starts at Alan Garden Memorial Reserve tomorrow.

While RSL and Woorinen proved too strong for each respectively last week, this game should tell a different story.

For Ultima TUF the likes of Al Ward, Andy Abbott and Adam Skinner could all potentially have an impact with the bat, while Rod Power and Bobby Singh will be hoping to make a difference with the ball.

For Lakers, Alan Hatcher has been reliable at the crease, while young guns like Matt Smith and Ryan Callaghan have managed some runs.

Smith and Hatcher have also been handy with the ball, while Brendan Shepherd has also chipped in with a few wickets.

Nyah District v St Mary’s Tyntynder

NYAH District will be looking to continue on its merry way with a big win over St Mary’s Tyntynder at Nyah.

Jason Morrison, Trent Thompson and Michael Boulton have been vital with the ball for the home side, while some old hands such as Kent Wooding, Shane Fleming, Ritchie Boulton and Morrison have again made some runs.

St Mary’s have enjoyed some bright spots in a long season thanks to the performances of younger players such as Corey Daniels and Matt Heffer.

Against Swan Hill in round 11, St Mary’s didn’t make nearly enough runs and while they will look to address that issue as soon as possible, but against Nyah’s strong attack the task doesn’t look to get any easier.

Regardless of who bats first, Nyah will be looking to jump out of the blocks early and get on top by the close of day one.

Tooleybuc Manangatang v Swan Hill

ANOTHER game of the round looks set to unfold at Tooleybuc, with Tooleybuc Manangatang taking on Swan Hill.

Tooleybuc Manangatang fell short of Nyah’s total last week, with Leigh Kentish putting on 149.

While the home side got to 252, more support for Kentish might have made a big difference.

He’s been the leading batsman and bowler for Tooleybuc Manangatang all season, with the likes of Simon Craig and Tommy Mattarazzo also important at times.

For Swan Hill, Daniel Cruickshank, Jack Hughes and Mitch Seton-Stewart have been contributing with the bat, while Cruickshank, Matthew Lanigan and Harry Clewett have been important with the ball.
