Nyah off to a good start

NYAH District went in strong favourites against St Mary’s Tyntynder in the round 12 match. 

Captain Jason Morrison got his team off to a great start with the ball, quickly dismissing openers Corey Daniels (3) and Jarred Halligan (0), as well as being involved in the run out of Matt Heffer (2) with youngster Josh Wooding also assisting. 

Billy McInnes and Brent Daniels finally took it to the Nyah bowlers, as the pair compiled an 80 run partnership before Richie Boulton found a way through McInnes bowling him for 45. 

The long tail was easily accounted for then as a number of Nyah bowlers including Boulton, Michael Kadar and Trent Thompson claimed wickets as the bottom six scored just seven runs between them. 

The outstanding performance however was from Brent Daniels as the under 14s player finished with 65 not out, his team bowled out for 137.

Things went from bad to worse for St Mary’s and they were unable to claim early wickets. 

Openers Morrison and Kadar capitalised as the pair put together an opening stand of 108 before Morrison holed out to the bowling of Corey Daniels for 73. 

Shortly after Daniels brought about the down fall of Kadar (35) and Justin Toomey (9) to bring the score to 3/125. 

Boulton and Kent Wooding then saw out the days play, just passing the total set as they finished on 12 and four respectively. 

Nyah’s total was 3/139.
