Kingwill top-scores for Lakers

THE second day of Swan Hill District Cricket Association’s 12th round will be played tomorrow.

Ultima TUF and Lakers play at Alan Garden Memorial Reserve, RSL takes on Woorinen at North Park, Nyah District is up against St Mary’s at Nyah and Tooleybuc Manangatang and Swan Hill are on at Tooleybuc.

Lakers v Ultima TUF

WITH Brad Kingwill top-scoring with 53, Lakers managed 126 in their first innings against Ultima TUF at Alan Garden Reserve last week.

The visitors had won the toss and elected to bat but few other than Kingwill were able to offer much resistance.

Al Ward did the most damage with the ball with 4/42 while Bobby Singh removed Kingwill to claim an important scalp.

Early wickets make UTUF’s position look tenuous, however, with the home side on 4/57 after 26 overs.

With six wickets in hand, UTUF will need to form partnerships tomorrow if it is to take the first innings points.

RSL v Woorinen

WOORINEN batted first after winning the toss at North Park last week but it was RSL that had the better of the day’s play.

While Dean Morpeth and Guri Singh managed starts with 31 and 49 respectively, few others were able to build partnerships or momentum for the home side.

In the end Woorinen was dismissed for 164 from 60.4 overs, with Duane Bruton being the most damaging of RSL’s bowlers taking 5/35.

RSL then made the best possible start to its innings by being 0/45 at stumps with Brenton Gurnett and Dwayne Hinton at the crease.

At 0/45 the home side will make a push for first innings points tomorrow.

Nyah District v

St Mary’s Tyntynder

NYAH District is in a position to push for an outright win if it can score runs quickly tomorrow.

Brent Daniels and Billy McInnes were strong with the bat for St Mary’s Tyntynder with 65 and 45 runs respectively but unfortunately for the visitors the third highest individual total was three.

It meant St Mary’s were dismissed for 137 off 54.1 overs with a more competitive total having been possible.

Nyah shared the wickets around with Jason Morrison, Ritchie Boulton and Rhys Burge all taking two.

The home side was 3/139 at stumps.
