RSL ends win drought

St Mary’s-Tyntynder strengthened their premiership aspirations with a six-wicket win over the bottom of the ladder Swan Hill on Saturday.

Callan Noonan scored an impressive 41 for Swan Hill, and was supported by Alan Hatcher (21) and Brady Hogan (23) to steer the side to a total of 109.

Dom Violi was on fire with the ball for the Saints, as he took 6-13 off his 11 overs which included three maidens.

After taking the crucial wickets of Cal Noonan and Alan Hatcher he ripped through the tail to give his side an easy target to chase down.

Chasing 110, St Mary’s-Tyntynder had a horrible start to their innings after opener Jared Halligan was bowled first ball by Noonan.

Noonan then struck again to get the wicket of Jake Foster and St Mary’s Tyntynder were 2-2 and looking in a bit of strife.

From there it was smooth sailing as Austin McKerrow (33) and Jack Shannahan (56) rallied for a 94-run partnership.

They ended up reaching their total of 113 losing only four wickets in 24 overs.RSL 8-90 def WANDELLA 10-89

RSL put in an inspired performance to knock off Wandella by two wickets and take their first victory since Round 2.

Batting first Wandella got off to a reasonable start however the wheels soon fell off very quickly as only one player scored over eight runs.

Gregory Dickson played a lone hand with 55 as the team limped to all out 89.

Patrick Caldwell ripped through Wandella’s middle order to finish with figures of 4-31 off his 13 overs which included an incredible seven maidens.

Cameron Cook chipped in taking 2-11 which included the important wicket of Dickson and opener Bohden McKnight.

RSL made a steady start to their run chase with openers Benjamin Hallam (14) and Ryan Hinton (25) putting on 36 before they lost a staggering 6-12 to be in all sorts of trouble at 6-48.

But after starring with the ball, Caldwell then guided the side to an impressive win after scoring 29 runs and remaining unbeaten alongside Stuart McGregor (4 not out).

Logan Keighran was damaging with the ball for Wandella, taking 4-24 off his 11 overs however it wasn’t enough to get his team over the line.

Rohan Oliver was economical taking 1-12 off his 15 overs, however defending under 90 was always going to be a tough task for Wandella.ULTIMA-TUF 6-121 def WOORINEN 10-117

In the battle between the fourth and fifth placed sides Ultima-TUF claimed an impressive four wicket win over Woorinen.

Batting first Woorinen opener Marcus Mangiameli (54) was the highest scorer for his team, however he had a lack of support from the rest of the batting lineup.

Gurmander Singh (15) and Zac Ryan (14) both got starts but couldn’t go on as the team were bowled out for 117.

Jordan King 3-15 and Josh Waldron 3-10 were dominant for Ultima-TUF as the team had six different wicket takers in a bowling attack that doesn’t lack depth.

Chasing 118 for victory, Ultima-TUF never looked in strife as they guided their way to a comfortable four wicket victory.

Waldron (32) and Mitchell Seton-Stewart (32 not out) top scored for Ultima-TUF, however they were well supported by the rest of their batting lineup.

Mangiameli backed up his half century taking 3-33 however it wasn’t enough to get his team over the line.

Stefan Mangiameli chipped in with 2-34 off his 10 overs, which included taking the important wicket of Waldron.
