Tooleybuc-Manangatang completes premiership hat-trick in B grade grand final

Tooleybuc-Manangatang completed a hat-trick of premierships In the B Grade Grand Final, after storming to a comfortable eight wicket win against Nullawil-Culgoa.

After winning the toss, Nullawil opted to bat first, but that was where the fun ended for the Maroons’ as they capitulated to be bowled out for 49 in just 24 overs, with Ryan Standen dominating with the ball, taking 4/13 and earning man-of-the-match honours.

Chasing 50 for victory, Tooleybuc didn’t waste any time, easily reaching their target two wickets down and 30 overs to spare, with skipper Tom Matarazzo doing the majority of the damage with a quick fire 23 at the top of the order.

At North Park, it was Sea Lake-Woomelang who caused the upset of the weekend, beating the previously undefeated Balranald to go back-to-back and claim the C Grade premiership.

Batting first, Sea Lake-Woomelang compiled a patient 108, thanks largely to a strong opening partnership between Colin Durie (39) and Joe Summerhayes (28), with Oliver Rohde the pick of the Balranald bowlers with 4/7.

In reply, Balranald’s run chase never really got going, with Michael Linnett (13) the only batsman to reach double figures, as the Roo’s crumbled to be all out for just 44 thanks to a man-of-the-match performance from Chase Tait (4-11) and Matt Elliott (4-7).

In the junior grand finals, Wandella’s under-16 team claimed their first piece of silverware since joining the Swan Hill & District Cricket Association, after defending 93 runs against the combined St.Mary’s-Tyntynder/Swan Hill team. And the Northern Razorbacks, who were led by Max Thompson with 65 not out, scored 1-101 to beat Sea Lake-Woomelang 43-runs and claim their third consecutive under-13 premiership.
