Cricket washed out again

THE Swan Hill District Cricket Association were forced to call off games for the second week in a row after last week’s torrential downpour.

The weather impacted all grades, with another week on the sidelines likely to follow this week, due to a more rain expected from Wednesday through to Sunday.

A Grade was meant to kick off their Kookaburra Cup competition but will now likely have to wait until late October, at least for the first ball of the season.

Junior cricket is in the same boat, but the seniors C Grade competition remains unaffected, with their start to the season locked in for November 5th.

With Kerang expected to be cut off for two weeks, a decision will be made soon in the case of Wandella, who play their home games in Kerang and are meant to play St Mary’s Tyntynder at Riverside Park this Saturday.

Murrabit and Kerang Cricket Clubs face the same situation with junior sides competing in the SHDCA this season.

Woorinen host Nyah District and Swan Hill face Ultima TUF in the other contests this weekend.
