SHDCA: Woorinen v RSL

BOTH Woorinen and RSL will also put their finals aspirations on the line, when they face off against each other at Tigerland.

The only difference in this game is the loser won’t have their top four hopes dented – but extinguished.

Currently in fifth and sixth, both sides are in desperate need of a win.

The last time Woorinen tasted victory was all the way back in early December against the Blues.

Since then, they’ve lost their last seven matches and are searching for a way to turn their season around.

On paper, RSL are a much better side than what they have shown this season, but the fact is the only team they’ve beaten this season is Swan Hill – twice.

They have been competitive in most games they’ve played, including a tie against Nyah District and last Saturday’s heart-breaking loss to Wandella.

But like Woorinen, their season is now at a stage where competitive won’t cut it – they need wins and they need them fast.

Bat is likely to dominate this game, especially with the continued absence of Woorinen opening bowler Guri Singh.

While the Tigers may have lost one wicket taker, they certainly found one in English import Dylan Smythe, who has taken an impressive 11 wickets for just 93 runs in the past fortnight.

Woorinen will have a much stronger look about them, with Cooper Fox, Darren Rushton and Frank Violi all set to return for the home side – while RSL will also have some well-timed additions with the inclusion of veteran batsmen Ryan Hinton and Stuart Patterson.

In fact, the inclusion of Hinton is set to be one of the big talking points of the match, particularly surrounding how the Blues re-structure their batting line-up on the back of Paul Munro’s century last Saturday opening alongside skipper Ben Hallam.
