SHDCA Round 2: St Mary’s-Tyntynder v Swan Hill

St Mary’s-Tyntynder v Swan Hill

It will be a case of David taking on Goliath when Swan Hill plays reigning premiers St Mary’s-Tyntynder at the Ken Harrison Reserve Saturday afternoon.

It’s been a tough start to the season for last year’s wooden spooners, who have been fixtured to play both grand finalists first up.

The Swans were no match for the Bombers, who were bowled out for just 76 in the 27th over and failed to take a wicket with the ball.

But if last week proved to be a major challenge for Swan Hill, then Saturdays’s encounter with St Mary’s-Tyntynder will be twice as difficult, especially if Jake Foster, Jack Shannahan and Dom Violi return to the Bulldogs line-up.

The reigning premiers were at their dominant best against Ultima-TUF last Saturday and at first glance should be a class above the Swans on Saturday, with Jonty Chaproniere and Connor Power both starting their seasons off in form with the bat, while Charlie King and Robin Sebastian were just as dominant with the ball.

The last time these two teams met ended with Swan Hill suffering an outright defeat inside one day of cricket – and while there will be no second innings this time around, it should still end in a resounding victory for St Mary’s-Tyntynder.
