Diamonds shine bright against Horsham

MURRAY Downs Diamonds continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 13-run win over Horsham in a Twenty20 clash at the weekend.

The Diamonds, playing their first home game of the season, compiled a competitive 6-100 from their 20 overs.

Lily Scott top scored with 20 not out, Maddison Walle made a quickfire 17 and Bridie Curran finished the innings with 15 not out.

The Hurricanes started the run chase in positive fashion as opener Zarli Night found the boundary with regularity on her way to an 29 not out.

But the loss of her opening partner Indira, who was bowled by Meg Rogers for 6, with the score on 21, triggered a collapse for the Hurricanes, who were eventually bowled out for 87.

Rogers (1-14), Felicity Matarazzo (1-3), Alethea D’Silva (1-6), Reece Parsons (1-13) and Maddison Walle (1-14) all bowled well for the winners.

Murray Downs will travel to Horsham to face the Hurricanes on Sunday to begin the 30-over competition, with captain Amalie Bell and Marli Doyle expected to return to the line-up.
