THE Murray Downs Diamonds have continued their unbeaten start to the season, defeating the Horsham Hurricanes for the second time in two weeks.
Batting first, the Hurricanes scored 4/96 from their 30 overs, as tight bowling and a solid effort in the field helped the Diamonds restrict the total.
Diamonds captain Amalie Bell led the way, taking 2/7 from her four overs. Alethea D’Silva also bowled a tight line and length to claim 1/11.
Murray Downs made light work of the chase, passing the home team’s score in the 16th over, before ending their innings on 3/117 from 20 overs.
Openers Lily Scott (11 not out) and Reece Parsons (22 not out) helped set up the win and Felicity Matarazzo top-scored with an unbeaten 23. Mia Hansen was also strong with 20 not out.
The Diamonds go into this weekend’s bye on top of the ladder, then play their final match before the Christmas break in a fortnight’s time against the Wimmera Mallee Belles at home.
