Nyah District Grand Final Player Profiles

Charlie Boulton – Left Hand Batsman/Right Arm Medium-Fast Bowler

Won the SHDCA under-21 player of the year award, as well as the A grade batting aggregate award at the league presentation night earlier this week. Has scores of 27 and 75 against the Raiders this season, with both coming in quick time. Can be devastating with either bat or ball and will be a key player for the Demons.

Mitchell Grinham – Right Hand Batsman

Has come of age this season, with a move to the top of the order coinciding with career best form at the start of the season. Has scored 419 runs at an average of 29.93 and has the capability to hold up an end or score quickly depending on the game situation. Was selected in the SHDCA’s team of the year on Wednesday night.

Jacob Lister – Right Hand Batsman/Right Arm Medium-Fast Bowler

Returned to Nyah District this season and has been a welcome addition to their squad, with his seam bowling seeing him take 24 wickets for the season. Is a stylish batter with all the shots and will need to be at his best against the Raiders tomorrow afternoon.

Joel Walsh – Right Hand Batsman/Right Arm Fast Bowler

One of, if not the, best cricketers in the association, Walsh can be destructive with either the bat or ball. His power hitting can take a game away from any side in quick time, while also being able to rip through an opponent’s top order with the ball. Is a big game performer and is a previous grand final man of the match recipient. Has scored 393 runs at an average of 35.73 this season and taken 17 wickets.

Dean Harrop – Right Hand Batsman

Scored a match-winning 40 off 73 balls in last Saturday’s semi-final against RSL to help the Demons secure their place in the grand final. Is as dangerous as any batter in Nyah District’s line-up when he gets going and is an underrated talent, having scored 314 runs at an average of 26.17 this season.

Shane Fleming – Right Hand Batsman

Experienced campaigner who can bat in the top order or with the tail. Has played in many grand finals over the years and will be hoping to use that experience tomorrow.

Ben Sheridan – Right Hand Batsman/Right Arm Medium Bowler

Has been in and out of Nyah District’s A grade side this season, but is expected to return for the grand final in the absence of all-rounders Max Thompson and Nash Richman. Played in the Demons Kookaburra Cup win over Woorinen earlier this season, with his accurate medium pacers perfectly suited to red ball cricket.

Ethan Curran – Wicket Keeper/Right Hand Batsman

Born and bred Nyah District cricketer that has risen through the ranks to become a key player in the A grade side this season. Started off as a bowling all-rounder, before taking the gloves mid-season after a back injury to Dean Harrop and has been sharp behind the stumps. Hard hitting lower order batter who scored 49 off 37 balls in last year’s B grade grand final, earning himself the man of the match.

Ben Shadbolt – (captain) Right Hand Batsman/Right Arm Fast-Medium Bowler

Has led from the front in recent weeks, with a five-wicket haul against RSL last Saturday helping the Demons claim a spot in the grand final, while also providing handy lower order runs with 87 runs at an average of 43.50 in his past innings. Will be hoping to add a second premiership as captain to his CV and be the first to win all three titles (premiership/Kookaburra Cup/McDonald’s T20) in a season.

Oliver Boulton – Right Hand Batsman

Late season inclusion in the Demons A grade squad thanks to his hard hitting, late innings batting. Scored 27 in quick time late in the 2020-21 grand final loss to Woorinen to almost pinch the win.

Cooper Andrews – Right Hand Batsman/Right Arm Medium Bowler

Crafty bowler who gets consistent wickets, so much so that he is Shadbolt’s go to bowler to break a partnership. Can bowl off-spin as well as seam up and has taken 23 wickets for the season at an impressive average of 12.22.
