PARENTS and guardians in New South Wales will now be able to attend end of year school events such as Year 12 graduations, after Member for Murray Helen Dalton directly took up the matter with the NSW Education Minister.
Mrs Dalton said she took up the issue after parents had complained to her about being barred from attending events.
“Two passionate students from St Francis, Leeton – Phoebe Allan and Jess Forrest – also urged me to do something.
“The Minister’s office said they would review the policy.”
The Department of Education subsequently released new guidelines which allow for fully vaccinated parents to attend school events.
“Venues need to adhere to COVID-19 rules, but this ruling is a big relief to parents and students who can enjoy themselves after a really tough year,” Mrs Dalton said, and recommended that parents should consult their school for further details on the new guidelines.
