EARLY access to quality early childhood
education is key to children’s learning journey, according to Shine Bright.
Early years manager Belinda Schultz said that Shine Bright, which operates six sites across Swan Hill, was focused on and committed to making every moment matter for children, staff, families and local communities.
“We have experienced educators in the Swan Hill region, and incredible, well
resourced and established indoor and outdoor spaces which support children’s play-based learning,” she said.
“All the children have individual education plans which focus on goals that are set collaboratively with families and are reviewed regularly. We pride ourselves on our strong kindergarten to family connection which enables us to work together to support each child’s learning.
“The educational programs are play-based and give children agency in their own learning journey. We have a strong commitment to foregrounding Aboriginal perspectives, in particular connection with land and being outside. Playing in nature promotes children’s wellbeing and helps them develop resilience.”
Ms Schultz agreed Shine Bright’s reputation has enabled the organisation to grow in the region.
“The continual dedication and commitment by staff and local families to ongoing improvements in the quality of the services has built our strong reputation over many years,” she said.
“The educators come together regularly to collaborate and we all have fun as a team with children and families.
“It’s a place of joy to celebrate children’s learning.”
Ms Schultz said one positive out of the
pandemic was the “incredible resilience” of young children.
“They had flexibility to adapt in challenging circumstances, and pivot quickly to adjust to many changes, for example the children being dropped off at the gate,” she said.
“This has been hard on the educators because we pride ourselves on a strong face-to-face relationship with families, so we have had to think differently about the way we do things.”
Ms Schultz said Shine Bright was keen to speak to anyone who might be interested in a career change.
“We have many positions and are happy to talk to anyone at anytime. There is a lot of opportunity for career progression, kindergartens are an exciting, fun place to be where we can really make a difference to a child’s life.
